Buxton Beckons! A Clarion Easter Tradition Returns

Dust off your touring bikes, pack your panniers, and get ready for a historical ride! The London Clarion Cycle Club is heading to Buxton this Easter, reviving a tradition that stretches back over a century.

Did you know that our club first ventured to Buxton for an Easter meet way back in 1912? And not just once, but again in 1915 and 1917, 1923, 1930, 1940, 1944, 1950, 1959, and finally in 1965! That's a rich history of Clarion cyclists exploring the beautiful Peak District.

And now, in April 2025, we'll be making our 11th pilgrimage to Buxton at Easter! It's a testament to the enduring appeal of this charming spa town and its stunning surroundings.

The Allure of Buxton

Buxton is famous for its natural thermal springs and striking Victorian architecture. Positioned in the heart of the Peak District, it serves as an idyllic starting point for stunning cycling trails and outdoor adventures. The town is a delightful mix of culture and nature, making it a perfect getaway for a long weekend.

This year, thanks to some engineering works at Euston, we'll be enjoying an extended Easter break in Buxton. This means more time for what we love: glorious rides through the Peak District's rolling hills and dramatic landscapes. We're planning invigorating routes for Good Friday, Easter Saturday, and Easter Sunday, promising plenty of opportunities to soak in the breathtaking scenery.

Of course, no Clarion gathering is complete without some socialising! We're looking forward to exploring the local pubs, sharing stories, and enjoying the camaraderie that makes our club so special. Expect plenty of laughter, good company, and perhaps a few well-earned pints after a day in the saddle.

Buxton offers a fantastic base for cycling adventures, with its network of quiet lanes, challenging climbs, and stunning views. We'll be exploring the local area, discovering hidden gems, and making the most of the long Easter weekend.
